Our story

We are Kristy and Steve, co-founders of Project Holding Space.

We grew up in a time where we used the landline to arrange meeting up with friends. In fact, hours could be spent on the phone, that was normal for us. Then somewhere between our mid to late teens, mobile phones came on the scene. Then with a text here and a game of snake there, technology become more and more ingrained in our lives. Days became years until we found ourselves in our thirties scrolling through day and night, working in a city, and loving the busyness of working in theatre.

However, after deciding to start a family our priorities began to change.

Which is fairly normal, right?

It wasn't until our little boy came along that it became apparent that a few changes here and there weren't going to cut it.

We needed a change and it was going to be big!

We left our careers in the theatre industry behind and, with only an interest in bush craft and a recently completed Permaculture Design Course between us, we headed off in search of a home more conducive to self-sufficiency and long-term health and happiness.

Not long after we made the move, we verbalised to each other what we had both been thinking: 'we can't keep this to ourselves'.

We now offer respite from the busyness and the over-stimulation of all the online distractions, lights and noise of the modern wireless world.

Holding space for people to reconnect with

Self

We remember what it was like to fill our free time scrolling and absorbing endless online content.

We made the decision to not let the notifications dominate and instead find ways to be truly present with ourselves.

We now want to hold space for others to reconnect with themselves and find that space to just be.

Others

After moving to rural Wales and changing our lifestyle we began discovering more people who had already come to the realisation we had.

We began spending more time around campfires with others who had prioritised being truly present.

This quickly felt like home to us and now we give people opportunities to come together in a real space to remember the importance of in-person connections.

The natural world

We've always loved gardening and going for hikes in the countryside but it's been during these last few years that it's become really clear just how important connection with the natural world is.

Nature connection is proven to help improve health and wellbeing, especially when you remove devices from the experience.

From our volunteer gardening events to sitting nestled in the trees around a campfire, we offer an opportunity to reconnect with nature.
